Neostigmine and glycopyrrolate

Glycopyrrolate-neostigmine (G/N) for reversing neuromuscular blockade (NMB) causes fewer changes in heart rate (HR) than atropine-neostigmine (A/N).

Glycopyrrolate Neostigmine is a combination of two medicines: Glycopyrrolate and Neostigmine. Neostigmine is a cholinesterase inhibitor which is used at the end of a surgery to reverse the effects of certain medicines used during surgery such as muscle relaxants and anesthetics.

It was found that a safe and effective ratio of the two drugs was glycopyrrolate 0.2 mg : neostigmine 1 mg. This conclusion had been reached previously by Ramamurthy, Shaker and Winnie (2024) while examining the time sequence and dosage of glycopyrrolate with respect to neostigmine.
