I have a female first cousin who's been bipolar her whole life. So I know it's true about some being over-sexed when manic. She cheated on her husband with his full knowledge for many months, while her meds were being adjusted. How he didn't dump her, I'll never know.

I enjoyed the story, but there was one part I have to say I found extremely ignorant. When Bryn says that Hayden isn't right, that he may have bipolar or manic depression, you are feeding into the misconception that someone with a mental illness is automatically violent and a danger to others. As someone with bipolar, the only person in likely to hurt is myself.
If you choose to use such comparisons in the future, please do your research and choose a more appropriate disorder. The best option, though, would be to not use mental illness as a possible excuse.

It was a good surprise. I agree with the previous commenter, now it feels more as if she is a human too. It's a sweet little story, so I guess the depressive phase was not a severe one. But speaking from my personal experience living with a person with bipolar, the depressive episode can be very severe, especially after a very high manic episode and the crash can last for a few day or more.

Great story. But setting aside the writing, it's obviously a tale of women with a genetic legacy of schizophrenia or manic-depression. Voices? Duh. Bipolar folks can and sometimes do cheat in the manic state because they become susceptible to seduction. Particularly when they avoid taking their medications, of which some of the older ones cause weight gain which effect self-image. My best friends wife was exactly so, and had one-night stands during manic episodes. The reality is that an 'intervention' such as the author describes here wouldn't work absent her medication. But that is the beauty of fiction. My friend's wife was a very caring woman, and and that couple developed coping mechanisms, but they eventually divorced because she would not stay on her medications, and so disrupted their family life too much (husband, children). We kept in touch with her for years after they divorced, and everyone worried about the children. So I really like the premise of intervention. Well told.

Thank God! Too much like real life! Too painful! Time to get away from these sick people. Life is short, these sick people have already caused far too much pain and cost far too much money. His wife has sucked the joy and happiness right out of his life. Disgusting selfish people. By the way, not everyone who is bipolar is a selfish, lying, freak. That is part of her personality, not part of bipolar disorder. Her deceit cannot be treated with drugs.
