Heart rate . Slowing of the heart rate may occur after midodrine administration, due to vagal reflex. Caution is advised when midodrine is used concomitantly with cardiac glycosides (such asdigitalis preparations) and other agents that directly or indirectly reduce heart rate. Patients should be monitored for signs or symptoms suggesting
Reducing heart rate or blocking the effect of adrenal hormones on the heart (e.g, beta blockers). Improving blood vessel constriction (e.g, midodrine)
Q. Does Midodrine affect heart rate? Midodrine may slow down the heart rate slightly. It should be used cautiously when using it with other medicines (beta blockers, digitalis, etc.) which can further slow down the heart rate. Patients should be monitored if they experience symptoms which are suggestive of slow heart rate.
1. Bradycardia (Slow Heart Rate): In rare cases, Midodrine can cause a significant decrease in heart rate. 2. Hypertension Crisis: Though
Heart rate reducing drugs. Monitoring is recommended if midodrine is combined with other drugs that directly or indirectly reduce the heart rate. Glycosides.
Some medicines taken at the same time as Midodrine hydrochloride may directly or indirectly reduce heart rate such as glycosides (eg
indirectly reduce heart rate; use with digoxin is not recommended because the heart-rate slowing effect may be potentiated by midodrine leading to heart block.
Midodrine interacts with alpha adrenergic blocking medicines and medicines which decrease the heart rate. (e.g, digoxin and beta-blockers). See
